Education

Amadou Damaro Camara studied in the fields of international economic relations and development economics. Graduated in these specialties, he developed a very early expertise in monetary and financial matters, which would become the leading thread of his career.

Professional career

At the end of the 1970s, when he was not yet 30 years old, Amadou Damaro Camara began his professional career at the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea (BCRG), as a director of public debt. At the same time, he is also a researcher-teacher at the Polytechnic Institute of Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry, where he teaches banking techniques. Many Guinean executives and officials have thus benefited from his expertise and passion for the transfer of knowledge.

However, his career was stalled in 1985, when he was arrested for conspiracy following the failed coup by Colonel Diarra Traoré. Prisoned for three years and four months, he eventually chose exile in the United States with his family.

Political career

After the death of General Lansana Conté in 2008, Amadou Damaro Camara returned to the country and joined the National Transitional Council (CNT). In this instance, he plays a decisive role in the adoption of two major laws concerning the Independent National Electoral Commission. (CENI). These laws are intended to guarantee the independence of the CENI and to frame the procedures for replacing its members when necessary.

In the 2013 parliamentary elections, Amadou Damaro Camara was elected a Member of Parliament for the 8th legislature and became president of the presidential majority in the National Assembly. His political influence was then significantly affirmed.
