Introduction

Mohamed Lamine Kaba is a leading Guinean politician, a former Member of the National Assembly of the country. Born on 5 May 1974 in Karako, Kouroussa Prefecture, Kaba walked a twisted but determined path to make his way in Guinea's tumultuous political arena. His journey is a true epic, full of challenges and achievements, which testifies to his resilience and unwavering commitment to his country.

Education

From an early age, Mohamed Lamine Kaba showed a strong appetite for learning. He began his primary studies at a Franco-Arab school in Karako, before continuing his academic career at the French school in Faranah. He then embarked on a journey to Conakry, the capital, to continue his studies at Bonfi College and Donka High School, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.

However, his thirst for learning did not stop there. Kaba subsequently took the leadership of Senegal, where he multiplied higher technical training. He has earned no less than three degrees in Senior Technician (DTS), in computer maintenance and networks, electronics and infographic respectively. Continuing his career, he received a master's degree in human resources from the International Business School (IBS) in Dakar.

Professional career

Before entering the political arena, Mohamed Lamine Kaba first acquired solid professional experience. In 2010, he was the campaign director in Senegal and Cape Verde for Alpha Condé, then a candidate of the Rassemblement du Peuple Guinéen (RPG) in the Guinea presidential election.

After Alpha Condé's election as head of state, Kaba returned to the birthplace to teach at several private universities in the country. However, politics called him irresistibly, and he would soon devote all his energy to it.

Creation of the FIDEL party

It was in 2018 that Mohamed Lamine Kaba crossed the political Rubicon by creating his own party, the FIDEL (Force des Integres pour la Démocratie et la Liberté). This political formation was born from his disappointment with the administration of the country by President Alpha Condé, whom he had supported during his election campaign. FIDEL has thus positioned itself as an opposition party, determined to offer a credible alternative to the Guineans.

Political career

The major turning point in Mohamed Lamine Kaba's political career occurred during the March 22, 2020 parliamentary elections. Under the banner of FIDEL, he was elected to the National Assembly, a resounding victory that propelled his party to the forefront of the Guinean political scene.

As a member of parliament, Kaba quickly made his mark. From 22 April 2020 to 5 September 2021, he held the post of Second Vice-President of the Commission on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Guineans, a strategic position that enabled him to weigh on decisions relating to the Guinean diaspora.

In addition to his term as a Member of Parliament, Mohamed Lamine Kaba also served as the second deputy mayor of the rural municipality of Faranah until the dissolution of the municipal councils in August 2022.

But it is in his role as a political opponent that Kaba has been the most outstanding. In July 2020, in the face of youth protests in Kankan demanding access to electricity, he did not chew his words, openly criticizing President Alpha Condé for abandoning his main electoral bastions, including Upper Guinea and Central Guinea. In a striking statement, he accused the head of state of not defending his own activists, stressing that those who had massively supported him when he was elected were now deprived of equitable access to electricity.

Conclusion

The journey of Mohamed Lamine Kaba is that of a resilient and determined man, who managed to combine a solid academic background with a diverse professional experience before entering politics. Since his election breakthrough in 2020, he has established himself as an influential voice of the Guinean opposition, not hesitating to openly challenge the power in place when the interests of his fellow citizens were at stake.

Although still relatively young on the national political chessboard, Mohamed Lamine Kaba has already left an indelible mark on the Guinea scene. His courage, integrity and determination make him an indispensable player in the country's political life, and there is no doubt that his influence will only increase in the years to come.
